The North Dakota Department of Transportation is updating the state’s long-range transportation plan, a process that will feature opportunities for residents and stakeholders to participate, including online feedback opportunities and in-person events in communities across the state this summer and fall.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation began the Chateau Road Reconstruction project this month. The project builds on Medora Business Loop and City Section improvements to enhance traffic flow and safety. Completion is expected by June 2026, weather permitting.

The westbound Apple Creek Rest Area building is scheduled to close Monday, June 16, for a building improvement project. The parking area will remain open during this project.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation today announced the call for presentations for the 2026 North Dakota Transportation Conference. Scheduled for March 10-11, this annual event will be held at the Bismarck Event Center.

Miriam Avenue is closed west of Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway as part of ongoing work on the Interstate 94 Exit 161 Interchange project. A detour is in place via Divide Avenue.

Effective immediately, a vehicle length restriction of 20 feet is in place at the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and 26th Street as part of the ongoing traffic control measures.

As part of the ongoing U.S. Highway 2 improvement project in Williston, temporary traffic changes will take effect Wednesday, June 4. The lane modifications are expected to last approximately one week.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation will begin mowing a seven-to-ten-foot clearance along shoulders of state highways starting in mid-June to July 1 depending on grass height.

In anticipation of the upcoming travel season, the North Dakota Department of Transportation kicked off the 2025 construction season with a news conference today in Bismarck to discuss upcoming projects and work zone safety. This year’s construction season consists of approximately $405 million in projects throughout North Dakota to enhance the state highway system. 

The North Dakota Department of Transportation will host public information meetings Wednesday, May 28, and Thursday, May 29, from 5-7 p.m. Mountain Time to discuss proposed improvements to U.S. Highway 85 from the junction of Interstate 94 to the junction of ND Highway 200.
