BISMARCK, N.D. — Starting the afternoon of Tuesday, June 9, southbound drivers on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway entering Interstate 94 East will use a newly constructed, permanent entrance ramp at Exit 161, marking the completion of pavement work on each of the interchange ramps. Lane restrictions remain in place while crews finish curb and gutter and median work in the area.

Temporary traffic signals south of the bridge will be removed this week. Permanent pavement marking is expected to begin late June or early July.

Additional work includes curb and gutter, sidewalks, permanent signage, pavement marking, removal of temporary ramps and interim traffic signals, and general project cleanup.

The following lane restrictions remain in place while crews complete final work:

  • Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway is reduced to one lane in each direction during median work.
  • The I-94 eastbound exit loop ramp is reduced to one lane while median work continues between that ramp and the new I-94 eastbound entrance ramp.
  • Eastbound I-94 is reduced to one lane for removal of the temporary entrance ramp.

NDDOT reminds drivers to slow down, stay alert, and expect changing conditions as work continues at the interchange.

The I-94 Exit 161 Interchange project, which began in spring 2024, is designed to improve traffic flow by eliminating two left-turn movements and adding right-turn loop ramps for more efficient travel. NDDOT appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure project moves forward.
