DICKINSON, N.D. — Reconstruction of the Interstate 94 West Business Loop is expected to begin Thursday, April 23. Upgrades will be made from the west I-94 interchange ramps to State Avenue, converting the corridor from a rural roadway to a modern urban section that enhances traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the growing community.

Key improvements include:

  • A new roundabout at 23rd Avenue/County Road 10
  • Roadway and utility upgrades
  • New street lighting
  • A shared use path from Fairway Street to State Avenue

Immediate work includes traffic control setup and the construction of temporary road widenings on the north/northeast side of business loop. Traffic control devices will be installed on the existing roadway to guide traffic as the temporary bypass is being constructed.

Two-way traffic on a paved surface will be maintained throughout construction, with periodic detours along a temporary bypass. No more than two side streets will be closed at a time and at least one access point to nearby businesses will remain open.

Substantial completion is expected by late October 2026, with final pavement striping to follow by June 2027.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down, follow posted signs, and use caution when traveling through construction zones.
