BISMARCK, N.D. — Beginning Tuesday, May 26, northbound and southbound drivers on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway will shift to a new configuration on the southeast interchange ramps.
Northbound drivers will use the reopened concrete slip ramp to access the southeast entrance ramp. Southbound drivers will use a temporary ramp connection to access the southeast entrance ramp while crews complete final ramp work. Traffic will also remain reduced to one lane on the southeast loop ramp for drivers exiting Interstate 94 East. This pattern is expected to last a couple of weeks before southbound traffic shifts to the completed ramp as designed.
Currently, drivers entering and exiting I-94 East at the interchange are head-to-head on a portion of the southeast loop ramp. This pattern, along with lane reductions on Centennial Road/Bismarck Expressway and the northeast loop ramp, will remain in place over the Memorial Day weekend. Signage will guide motorists through the work zone.
As travel increases over the Memorial Day weekend, the North Dakota Department of Transportation urges drivers to slow down in work zones, stay alert, and allow extra travel time.
The I-94 Exit 161 Interchange project, which began in spring 2024, is designed to improve traffic flow by eliminating two left-turn movements and adding right-turn loop ramps for more efficient travel. NDDOT appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this essential infrastructure project moves forward.
