FARGO, N.D. – Multiple road construction projects will begin soon on Interstate 29 in the Drayton and Pembina areas.

A bridge deck overlay project is expected to begin on May 11 on the 93rd Street overpass at I-29. That’s at mile marker 200, north of Drayton. The bridge will be closed all summer and is expected to re-open in October. A signed detour will be in place.

Crews expect to begin a pavement repair project on northbound lanes of I-29 on May 11, weather permitting. The work zone will be between mile markers 196-217. It will involve lane closures, reduced speeds, and width restrictions, and is expected to wrap up mid-July.

In Pembina, work will begin on ND Highway 59 between I-29 and the Red River on May 11, weather permitting. Work includes a mill and overlay with ADA curb ramp revisions. Flaggers and a pilot car will be controlling traffic. Motorists should expect speed and width reductions on Highway 59, along with short delays for the duration of the project. It is expected to be completed in mid-July.

The North Dakota Department of Transportation reminds motorists to slow down and use extra caution in construction zones. Up-to-date road conditions and construction information can be found by calling 511 or visiting the ND Roads map at travel.dot.nd.gov.
