Law enforcement agencies across North Dakota will have increased patrols throughout the month of May as part of the Click It or Ticket campaign. The effort is focused on encouraging seat belt use and helping prevent serious injuries and deaths on North Dakota roads.

Wearing your seat belt is the single most effective way to protect yourself in a crash, reducing the risk of fatal injury by nearly half.

During the enforcement period, officers will be watching for unbelted drivers and passengers and serving as a visible reminder to buckle up.

"We see firsthand the vital difference a seat belt can make," said Sheriff Jesse Jahner of the Cass County Sheriff's Office. "Taking that extra step to buckle up helps protect you and your loved ones."

In support of the campaign, participating coffee shops across the state will host Click-It for Coffee events. These events give drivers a chance to receive an incentive when they wear their seat belt through the drive-thru, offering a positive and engaging way to reinforce this life-saving habit.

Vision Zero invites everyone to visit VisionZero.ND.gov to find a Click-It for Coffee event near them.

Click It or Ticket is part of North Dakota's Vision Zero strategy to eliminate traffic deaths and serious injureis statewide.
