About
Construction of the Highway 22 and 8th Street Intersection Roundabout will improve safety and traffic flow at the intersection. The existing intersection was difficult for long vehicles to navigate and caused delays for traffic attempting to make left turns. The roundabout will improve both traffic flow and pedestrian safety by eliminating these challenges.
Key features of the project include:
- A new roundabout at the Highway 22 and 8th Street intersection.
- Frontage road realignment to improve access and traffic flow around the intersection.
- Shared-use paths to enhance pedestrian and cyclist connectivity.
- New lighting for improved visibility and safety.
Project Updates
- Work is underway on the main roundabout circle and will continue through summer 2026.
- Late summer into fall 2026, the east and west portions of the roundabout will be constructed, followed by final curb work and removal of temporary bypasses.
- Completion of the project is expected by late October 2026.
Traffic Impacts
- Two-way traffic on a paved surface will be maintained at all times throughout construction.
- Traffic will be re-routed to a paved bypass to enable construction of the roundabout.
- At least one access point to adjacent businesses will remain open at all times.
- No more than two adjacent side streets will be closed simultaneously.
