BISMARCK, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is now accepting applications for the Flexible Transportation Fund (Flex Fund) program.
The Flex Fund was approved by the 69th Legislative Assembly and is the second round designed to invest in North Dakota’s existing infrastructure. The Flex Fund will provide grants for projects that reduce long-term maintenance and operational costs and improves the connectivity, efficiency and safety of our transportation network.
Approximately $116 million will be allocated to local public agencies by the NDDOT through the Flex Fund grants.
“There was a very high interest among local partners during the initial Flex Fund rollout,” said NDDOT Director Ron Henke. “We look forward to continuing to work with our local partners to enhance the transportation system statewide with this next round.”
The Flex Fund now consists of grants and formula distribution to local public agencies. This round of the Flex Fund has grant programs specifically for non-oil townships, non-oil counties and cities, and bridges which will supplement traditional funding and help deliver projects more quickly.
A webinar will be held July 22 at 10 a.m. Central Time. The webinar will cover changes to the program, the application process, and include time for questions.
The Flex Fund application deadline is September 19, 2025.
