Question 14

Regarding note 704-P04, does this mean things like topsoil stripping, pipe extensions, class 5 placement, etc. can't happen on opposite sides of the road at the same time or is the intent just to prevent drop offs on the both sides at the same time?

DOT Response

The roadway lanes are only 13' wide. if traffic is shifted to 11' lanes, that gives the contractor room on one side to coulter cut and widen the roadway and do pipe extensions. They can shift traffic to close the other shoulder down to do the widening and pipe extensions on the other side. This will only work where we have the 3" overlay and Widening typical section. The subcuts and curve corrections will be full reconstruct and will have to utilize single lane traffic as described in the work zone traffic control plans.

There is no precast alternate included in the plans. The existing box culvert is cast-in-place, so the proposed extensions are cast-in-place only.

Question 9

Can you please verify the guardrail quantities. Your quantities call for 8ea End Terminals and the plans show 4ea at RP 127.622. You are also calling out for resetting 4ea End Terminals at RP 84.239. We are assuming that we are removing and resetting the 4ea that are currently there? You are calling for the removal of 29ea End Terminals. Based on the two bridges we are assuming this should be 8ea? Lastly at RP 127.622 you are calling for the installation of Tangent End Terminals but have it drawn with Flared End Terminals. Can you verify what you are wanting installed at this location.
