PCC PAVEMENT GRINDING: After construction of CPR repairs, grinnd surface of the
driving lane according to Specification 507.04F. Grind the 12 ft lane with a 1 ft
feather pass on both sides of the lane. Transverse Joint Sealing will be incidental to
PCC Pavement Grinding.
I attached the note on the transverse joint sealant. I understand it to be incidental, but is the DOT expecting all transverse joint sealant to be removed after grinding is completed and then resealed. Or will this be a judgement made in the field?
Additional Questions
For the full depth repair areas, can the pavement area that needs to be resealed to be done with Hot Pour as shown per Section 20 Sheet 1? Or is the NDDOT requiring backer rod and silicone for these areas?
For the sealing that may be required after the PCC Pavement Grinding, is the NDDOT requiring backer rod and silicone sealant? You referenced Section 570.04.H.1. That states silicone sealant. Wanting to clarify if hot pour would be acceptable for these joints.

DOT Response
Transverse joints will be required to be cleaned and resealed per NDDOT Standard Specification 570.04.H.1
Per section 105.05 of the Standard Specifications, the plans take precedence over the Standard Specifications, therefore hot joint sealant as called out on section 20 sheet 1 of the plan set would be required to seal the joints.
