There seems to be an extensive amount of brush and trees on the project. What is the requirement for "removal of trees and brush". Will we be to trim the trees that do not have the stumps in the fence line and will we be required to remove the stumps that are in the fence line or can we cut them close to ground level?
DOT Response
The intent of the plans is that the fence alignment lies within the available right of way, and no clearing beyond the right of way is permitted. Trees and brush shall be removed only as necessary to construct the fence along the fence alignment. Minor trimming of vegetation may be performed as needed to facilitate installation of the fence.
The requirements of Section 201.04 regarding removal of trees and stumps to specified depths apply within established construction limits. For this project, construction limits are intended to correspond to the fence alignment corridor as established by the Engineer. Trees and stumps shall be removed as necessary to construct the fence and install fence posts. Full grubbing to the depths specified in Section 201.04 for roadbed areas is not intended for this project unless required in specific locations to properly install the fence or as directed by the Engineer in the field.
Removal of trees, brush, and associated stumps necessary to complete the work is included in the bid item “Removal of Trees & Brush.”
