Traffic Control at the Demers Ave Interchange has 5 phases. Can phases 1B & 3 and phases 2 & 4 be performed concurrently?

These phases could be done concurrently, but plans have calculated signs and devices (including median barriers) for them to be done sequentially.  The contractor would be responsible for providing signs and devices (including median barriers).

Do the Joints within the Spall Repair - Partial Depth item need to be sealed? Do we need to seal above the expansion that is installed?

As per Spec. 570.04 B.3, "seal sawcuts using a Type IV hot poured sealant."

Where is item 43 Lane Closure-Signal Control/Flagging Control being utilized within the project? Cannot find anything in the traffic control sheets and need to know how many signals are needed, if any at all.

Bid Item 704-1018 is the traffic control required to perform work on University Avenue Separation (Sec. 170, Sheets 21-22).  Quantities for signs, devices, pavement markings, and traffic control signals are in included in the Estimate of Quantities and were determined by Standard D-704-16.

Are the Transverse PCC Joints and Longitudinal PCC Joints not scheduled to be cleaned and resealed on this project after the PCC Pavement Grinding? There are no bid items.

DOT Response

Seal the joints created by the sawing for CPR areas as an incidental work item to be included with the applicable CPR pay item.  Remaining joints are not required to be cleaned and resealed.
