Is the Temp Surface Agg incidental to the temp bypasses or paid for at the bid item unit price? Tables say incidental but the bid item says otherwise. Please clarify. Thanks

DOT Response

The Temporary Surface Aggregate is incidental to the Temporary Bypass Site I and Temporary Bypass Site II, as detailed in Section 10, Sheet 1.
It is a pay item only for the temporary surfaces at RP 104.328 and RP 114.267, as shown in Section 10, Sheet 1.

Per 930-P01 DEWATERING: Provide stormwater pumping as necessary during use of the temporary bypass at RP 103.180. Ensure the stormwater does not impact any buildings or structures. The estimated peak discharge for a 2-year storm event at this location is 4 cubic feet per second. There is no bypass at 103.18. At 103.18 is the deck overlay and no bypass is called for. Can you please clarify this and if the dewatering item is needed?

DOT Response

The location reference contains a typo.  The correct RP is 103.267.

In the supplemental pictures for structure 200-124.008, it appears that the spalled concrete is under the Double Box Beam Rail post. Is the removal and resetting of the Double Box Beam Rail incidental to the spall repair bid item?

DOT Response

No existing free standing rail retrofit posts will be removed in repairing the concrete curb spall areas. Include any required removal of the existing double box beam railing to repair the concrete spalls on the curb front face in the bid item "Spall Repair."

Per SP 152(25) E. Full Depth Reclamation 1. General. Reclaim to the depth shown in the plans. Process reclaimed material so that the nominal aggregate size is 1.5 inches. Is the expectation that this material is to be hauled off the project and processed to meet 1.5" minus? A reclaimer is not able to size material to this exact requirement and there are no bid items for this work. Other reclaim jobs have been a 2" minus and have not used the work process. Please clarify.

DOT Response

The intent is not for the material to be hauled offsite for additional processing. The contractor should be able to adjust reclaimer’s mechanical settings to provide some control over the gradation during the reclamation process. The DOT does not view this requirement as a change from previous projects. The goal remains for 90–100% of the reclaimed material to pass the 1½-inch sieve. We anticipate the material will meet this requirement through the normal reclamation process without additional bid items.

Per SP 144(25) - Do not use erionite containing salvaged base for Traffic Service Aggregate or on approaches. Per 202-P01 Reclaimed material may be used for Traffic Service Agg, Class 5 and Class 13. Please clarify as these specs contradict each other. Thanks
