Memorial Highway Improvements

Project Details

The North Dakota Department of Transportation and the City of Mandan are planning the reconstruction of Memorial Highway between Main Street and 46th Avenue in Mandan. This reconstruction project will improve safety and mobility of the corridor and reduce future maintenance costs. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2022. Key project improvements include:

  • Add sidewalks or trails
  • Improve traffic flow and intersection safety
  • Improve drainage
  • Provide safe access to businesses
  • Address pavement at the end of useful life

  • Phase 1: Construct storm sewer outlet pipe, anticipating minimal disruption to traffic on Memorial Highway.
  • Phase 2: Construct east half of Memorial Highway. Project limits to be determined.
  • Phase 3: Construct west half of Memorial Highway. Project limits to be determined.

Span Wire Signals

Span wire signals will be installed at the intersection of Memorial Highway and 3rd St SE/Bisman Ave in Fall 2021. This 4-way traffic signal will control the movement of traffic throughout the intersection. A span wire signal currently exists a the intersection of Memorial Highway and 40th Ave. In 2023/2024, all traffic signals on Memorial Highway are planned to be replaced.
