Travel Alert extended to south central and southwestern ND

Travel Alert extended to south central and southwestern North Dakota

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) and the North Dakota Highway Patrol have extended a Travel Alert to include south central and southwestern North Dakota due to blowing and drifting snow causing snow to stick to roadways and creating icy road conditions for Bismarck, Washburn, Glen Ullin, Flasher, Steele, Linton, Dickinson, Beach, New England, Bowman, Hettinger and surrounding areas. This extends the Travel Alert issued earlier for portions of northwestern North Dakota which includes the cities of Williston, Tioga, Watford City and surrounding areas.

Motorists should also be aware that travel conditions can change quickly and blowing and drifting snow can create hazardous driving conditions and roads could become blocked, especially at bridges or sheltered areas.

A Travel Alert means conditions are such that motorists can still travel in these areas, but should be advised of rapidly changing conditions. Motorists are encouraged to reduce speeds and drive according to the conditions.

All travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions as weather conditions occur and use caution while traveling. For road information, call 511 from any type of phone or go to the website: http://www.dot.nd.gov/travel-info-v2/
