The preferred alternative has been identified as Alternative G. Alternative G would consist of constructing a two-lane highway on the northwest side of New Town on a new alignment. The proposed alignment would connect ND 23 0.54 miles west of the junction of ND 23/ND 1804 to the junction of ND 1804/ND 23B.
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has determined that the preferred alternative will have no significant impact on the environment.
The Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is based on the June 2017 Environmental Assessment (EA), which has been independently evaluated by FHWA, and determined to adequately and accurately discuss the need, environmental issues and impacts of the proposed project, and appropriate mitigation measures.
PUBLIC INSPECTION: The June 2017 FONSI/EA will be available for public inspection from July 19 through August 18, 2017, at the New Town City Library, 103 Soo Place, New Town; North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) Williston District Office, 605 Dakota Parkway West, Williston; and NDDOT Central Office (information desk), 608 East Boulevard Avenue, Bismarck; online at https://www.dot.nd.gov/projects/williston/docs/NewTownNorthwestRoute.pdf; or by request from Jessica Karls, Project Manager at email@example.com or 701-232-5353.
