Some parts of the state are getting winter weather and
the North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) wants motorists to be
prepared. NDDOT provides many tools for motorists to stay informed of changing
winter road conditions including the NDRoads smartphone app, the online Travel
Information Map, text/email subscription service and by calling 511.
As NDDOT combats the snow and ice on the roadways,
motorists should be aware that conditions on the roadway can change quickly
during winter storm events and they should keep up on changing conditions. The NDDOT has multiple
tools in place to help you to know before you go and review information on
winter road conditions including:
NDRoads app available for free download at the Apple app store and Google Play
Travel Information Map online at www.dot.nd.gov. Real-time cameras available to view actual road conditions at any time of day.
GovDelivery. Sign up for the “Message Center” to receive important emails or texts about travel information including No Travel Advisories and Road Closures: http://www.dot.nd.gov/govdelivery/landing.htm
Conditions are reported on the Travel Information Map from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Conditions may vary from those reported.
Remember as you travel, snowplows are out working to clear snow and ice from roadways. Give them room to do their job and be patient. The NDDOT works hard to keep travelers informed of road conditions. Be prepared for winter driving by visiting dot.nd.gov
