Who can participate?
The NDTeenDrivers Traffic Safety Contest 2012 is open to students enrolled in a North Dakota school ages 14 to 19 years old (as of Friday, February 1, 2012. Students can participate individually or in a group, no larger than five students; however, if working in a group all students must attend the same school.
If you are working in a group, the assistance of teachers, Community Traffic Safety Program Administrators, or parents that help in the process will not count towards your maximum of five participants.
Tell me about the contest!
The NDTeenDrivers Traffic Safety Contest is a statewide contest to promote traffic safety!
Student(s) will be required to develop a unique and original safety campaign slogan and submit a 30 second Video or Billboard design, individually or in a group no larger than 5 students, focusing on one of the topics listed below:
- Distracted Driving
- Underage Drinking and Driving
- Seatbelt Use
How do I sign up?
- Each individual (working independently or in a group) must completely fill out the Registration Form by 5:00 p.m. CST on Friday, April 4, 2012 and mailto North Dakota Department of Transportation, "NDTeenDrivers Traffic Safety Contest 2010", Attn: Carol Thurn, 608 East Boulevard Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58505.

What is the timeline for the contest?

What prizes can I win?
30 second Video Campaign
- 1st place:The winning spot will receive $750.00 and be placed on Carmike Movie Theatre Screens for one year starting Oct 1, 2012 and will be placed on TV for approximately one week.
- 2nd place: will receive $300.00.
- 3rd place: will receive $200.00.
Billboard Design Campaign
- 1st place: The winning billboard will receive $750.00 and be placed on billboards across the state for one week.
- 2nd place: will receive $300.00.
- 3rd place: will receive $200.00.
How are the winners determined?
Entries for the Video and Billboard campaigns will be judged by the public and a contest committee.
Judging
- Video and Billboard campaigns will be judged by the public and by a contest committee.
- The contest committee will judge on the below:
50% - Persuasive, creativity, informational, accuracy of information
25% - Script, coherence, visual design
25% - Public votes for the Videos and Billboards
Public Voting
- The contest committee will announce the Top 10 Finalists for the Video and Top 10 Finalists for the Billboard on www.NDTeenDrivers.com on Monday, April 16, 2012.
- The public can begin voting for their favorite in each campaign Monday, April 16, 2012 and will end Friday, April 27, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. CST.
Winner Notification
- Winners will be announced Wednesday, May 9, 2012 on www.NDTeenDrivers.com.
- Winners will be notified by phone or email according to the information listed on the registration forms submitted.
